Touring in a Tourless World. In a struggling industry, artists fight to find creative ways to connect with fans. Within the music industry, it's the one thing that artists and industry professionals alike struggle to cope with: How can a scene survive in the absence of live performances?

Touring and live performances are more than just a source of income - they provides fans the opportunity to connect with their favorites bands and a way for bands to create an intimate connection with the very people that allow them to keep doing what they want to do. It is the lifeblood of the industry.

Live streaming has become the current status quo and replacement for live performances. And while different platforms continue to be developed and improved upon, the intimacy still ceases to exist. Fans aren't sweating in packed, beer-soaked basements where they feel a part of something. There is no singing along with hundreds of strangers, there is no mind-numbing energy that keeps your ears ringing for days. There is no roar of applause at the end of the show and fans are discovering less and less music. Bands aren't selling as much merchandise, their bread and butter, and they aren't performing on a nightly basis. So the question remains until this unrelenting pandemic ends - what can we do to maintain some sense of normalcy? How many venues will have to close until we find a resolution? I invite anyone to create a dialogue on how we can fix this; there has to be a resolution.
